Functions

The Department is responsible for all matters of implementation of the development schemes under various programmes of the Border Areas Department such as Border Area Development Programme (SCA), Award of Thirteenth Finance Commission, Decentralised Planning, Assam Vikash Yojana, Specific Fund, repair and renovation of BOPs with co-operation of the District Administration as well as constitutional and peaceful settlement of inter-state border dispute.

Objectives

  • Gainful employment Generation through inclusive Capacity Building and Skill development of Bordering Areas population.
  • Completion of infrastructure project within stipulated time.
  • To enhance transparency in selection and execution of infrastructure projects.
  • To enhance social harmony among communities in the inter-state border areas through community outreach programme.
  • Constitutional and peaceful settlement of Inter-state Border disputes.
